Background
Every May, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency hosts Air Quality Awareness Week. AQAW 2024 will be celebrated from May 6-10.
As part of the celebrations, AirQo is partnering with U.S Missions across major cities in Africa, the Ministry of Works and Transport (MoWT-Uganda), the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA-Uganda), and Kampala Capital City Authority, (KCCA) as well as regional cities across Africa – Lagos, Nairobi, and Kisumu, Yaounde, Accra, Bujumbura, – to raise awareness about air pollution in Africa.
The theme for this year is, “Knowing Your Air”. It is an opportunity to raise awareness of available tools and resources to access air quality data. By knowing your air, you can take control and make informed decisions about your daily activities. This may involve planning outdoor exercise around cleaner air hours or taking precautions during high pollution days.
Objectives
We have tailored the EPA Air Quality Awareness Week 2024 topics to align with the African perspective.
