The Conference of the Parties (COP) is the United Nations’ highest decision-making body on climate change and the world’s largest annual gathering to advance global climate action. Each year, delegates from nearly every country meet to review progress, strengthen commitments under the Paris Agreement, and agree on new targets. The presidency rotates among five UN regional groups.
In 2025, Brazil will host the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) from 10–21 November in Belém, Pará. This marks the first time the summit will be held in the heart of the Amazon, one of the planet’s most critical ecosystems.
Brazil has framed COP30 as a “COP of solutions,” aiming to strengthen multilateral cooperation and drive consensus on global targets to cut greenhouse gas emissions.
